Summary
The webinar delved into the current state and future of sustainable finance for cities. Sustainable Finance is the key to unlocking and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. There is an increasing momentum in the private sector to integrate environmental and social considerations into mainstream finance, with investors increasingly seeking to ensure their investments leave a positive impact. Further, Covid-19 has accelerated this growth in sustainable finance, as well as created a growing need for cities to build back better, more sustainably, and more resilient to future shocks.
Our two speakers gave insights on how they support SDG-aligned investments with UNDP leading on creating SDG investor maps that helps to identify opportunities for investments that advance the goals. CIMB is supporting more sustainable investments and providing financing to businesses that focus on materiality and additionality of impact measurement.
